How is this calculated?
Each trade is modelled as a random outcome — you win R× your risk with probability equal to your win rate, and lose 1× your risk otherwise. Over many trades, your equity curve drifts by your edge per trade.
For each firm, we use a diffusion approximation of this random walk to compute the probability of hitting the profit target before the drawdown rule kicks in. For multi-stage challenges (1-step, 2-step, 3-step) the phases are chained — you have to pass each one. We pick the firm's easiest challenge for you.
Expected trades is a linear estimate: profit target ÷ edge per trade. We don't convert that into days because trade frequency varies enormously — a scalper takes 20 trades in a session, a swing trader takes one a week.
This is a model, not a guarantee. Real trading involves emotion, slippage, news events, and consistency rules that this calculator doesn't capture. Use it as a starting point for which firms match your edge — not as a promise of any particular outcome.
